Presentations began to slow down a little bit due to us running out of people to email. Mr Large helped us out by emailing a ton of teacher in a group email. Business is booming one again. We have a ton of presentations lined up for after break and we definitely have our work cut out for us. We had one response from NPE which enables us to go on days other than Wednesday. Mrs Floyd was one of my teachers in elementary school so I couldn't wait to get back in her class and show that she did a great job with her former students. The presentation went fantastic and even though we were speaking to a younger audience the kids had amazing questions. Mrs Floyd also had unbelievable control of her classroom which makes out job so much easier. With Christmas coming up our class and Mr Burk wanted to come up with a drive to help people in need. We decided as a team to partner with the Hope House and sent a list of items that they needed. We set up four trees in the main lobby to represent all of the grades, and then covered them with tags of items they could buy. If you took a tag you were expected to buy that item. We divided up work among the class, and my group got tasked with handling all of the items and counting them for class cup points. We then went down to the office every day unboxed packages, sorted items, and then tallied up all of the points. It ended up being a great success and we were able to drop off a ton of items at the hope house in greenfield. Finally, we were given the opportunity to go Christmas shopping for a family in need. The Hope House gave us a family in need and informed us with some details of the family. I was a single dad with one little girl, the dad was severely injured at work (HVAC) and was unable to go back to work. We as a class all pitched in money to go get presents for the dad and daughter. It was an amazing experience to help a family who really needed it. We then wrapped all the presents and they will be delivered later this week!

This week we took our first trip down to Brandywine. It was a great experience going to a new school and seeing a bunch of new faces. Wes set this up for us because he is a Brandywine alumni, however he did not tell us that we would be presenting to three classes at once. It was our first big group and it couldn't have went any better. Mrs Satterfield was a huge help to us and she did a great job keeping the kids very interested in our presentation. For the first time this year we had a ton of great questions that were very prevalent to our speech. After all of our presentations were done for the week some of our classmates asked us to come help them at the HOPE center. They needed help moving some furniture around for the new rooms they are constructing. We were all happy to help and it was a great experience. We started up in the attic moving various pieces of furniture into their new rooms. We then had to move an old couch from the third floor down to the dumpster in the parking lot. We then go to destroy the couch which was a fun way to end a great day!
Friday September 23rd we really began to step up our game. After having a few presentations under our belt and a lot of confidence built we were ready to tackle more. After emailing lots of teachers we got great responses and wanted to make sure we could get everyone in. We decided that we would be able to knockout three presentations in one day. We left during homeroom and went straight to Mrs. Torgersen's classroom which went very well. We then went down the hall to Mrs. Weiler's class and gave a great presentation, also answering some fantastic questions from the kids. Finally, we gave our last presentation to Mrs. Ulrey's classroom with just enough time left to get back to school. All in all it was a great day and we are loving how this project is growing and evolving. First Y.D.S.I. Presentation!
When we were thinking about what project to do for this class, all of us immediately knew we had to do something involved with sports. Sports has affected every one of our group members in a positive way, and we now want to give back and spread the love of sports!
We had our first presentation on Wednesday in Mrs. Armstrong's 5th grade class. It was great to finally present all of our hard work to the kids. It went great and the kids were very engaged. Not only did they really enjoy the presentation itself, they also had a ton of questions which was great. We really appreciated Mrs. Armstrong having us out and getting the first one out of the way. We are excited to give another presentation next week!
